File Folder Layouts

File folders and tabs are a huge trend right now. But they definitely don't have to be plain vanilla. Heidi Swapp has come out with several lines of beautiful file folders in lots of colors and designs -- and ones you can mist to color in any shade you want. These folders make awesome page elements as layered pieces on your layouts.

On this layout, I layered a lot of pieces -- including file folders and tabs -- behind the photo to build up a very colorful mat to feature the photo. The bright colors work well with the black and white photo.

Heidi Swapp makes clear tabs you can staple to your project to further enhance that file folder feeling.

This bottom border is a pre-made element from Heidi Swapp. I added the sequin heart (also from Heidi Swapp), but other than that, this was ready to go. Love that.

File folders don't have to be plain vanilla. You can incorporate bright colors to show off your photos and tell the story you want to share.

  1. I love folders. I use one for each year of the boys school album to slip in report cards and other papers that I don't want to attach to a page. Love how you decorated yours!
